Temporary products in Shopify

Since Shopify can't handle decimals, the workaround our app employs is to create a temporary Shopify product (that does not ever show up your website) with the correct price + weight information. With temporary products, we can handle tax overrides, and you can also view helpful details within Shopify's sales reporting such as SKU, vendor and product type.

If you do end up checking out the customer, our app will then immediately delete the temporary product; otherwise if you create the temporary product with our app and it never gets included in an order, we'll also automatically delete it after 12 hours.
