Getting started with the Price Embedded Barcodes Scanner app

Our Price Embedded Barcode Scanner enables you to quickly scan price and weight embedded barcodes for sell-by-weight products and automatically insert those line items into your Shopify POS cart. Therefore, the app is ideal for merchants using a label printing scale that prints UPC-A or EAN-13 price/weight embedded barcode labels.

Setting up to use the app is simple and involves three steps.

1. Setting up your products:

Price-embedded barcodes, also known as random weight, variable price, or type 2 barcodes, have the item's PLU (price look-up) item code and total price encoded into the barcode. These barcodes are typically printed using a label printing scale for sell-by-weight products at a deli counter or butcher, for example.

Your first step should be to set up your Shopify products to match the PLUs and prices in your label printing scale. You will need to use the PLU as the SKU of the product on Shopify, and the price of your products should also match the price per unit of those same products within your scale. 2. Changing app settings:

Now, you will need to open the app's settings and make sure they match your products, here is a link to the settings area. Click the "Setup" tab, and make sure to change the settings so they match your barcodes.

3. Adding app tile to POS smart grid:

Finally, the last step is to open the Shopify POS app on your device and add the app's tile. To do this:

1. Click the "Add tile" button
2. Click "App" and pick our "Price Embedded Barcode Scanner"
3. Choose the desired extension and click "Add".

Now you are ready to go! Just click the newly created tile whenever you want to scan a price-embedded barcode.
